This is an archive story from August 2007. For the most recent stories go here MOTHER OF ENTERPRISE ENSIGN TO SUEEnsign Rikki Shortly Before The Incident. Captain Kirk - Still On Active Duty Starfleet faces negligence caseSandra Blastwell(42) will take her case to the high court today - accusing Starfleet of gross negligience and failure to protect her son - Ensign Richard (Rikki) Blastwell. In a shocking turn Starfleet Command has been forced to publish the fatality statistics for low level crewmen on away missions as the grieving mother of unlucky Blastwell pressed for more protection for the young sons and daughters of the Federation. Inappropriate ColourIn an earlier interview Mrs Blastwell spoke about the aspirations of her son to follow in his father's footsteps Rikki grew up with stories from his Father - John - He was also an ensign and proudly wore the bright red disaster attracting sweater. Even though his Father was crushed by a falling rock on Alteraan 6 whilst escorting Mr Spock on a science mission. Rikki insisted on following in his fathers footsteps. Rikki Blastwell was tragically vapourised by an alien entity that thought itself a god until it met the near godlike Captain Kirk. Kirk fortunately managed to seduce the entity before blasting it with radiation and firing it into a nearby sun. Kirk would later posthumously award Ensign Blastwell the Medal of Expendability. High Court ShowdownMrs Blastwell is taking her case of negligence to the high court - citing recently released statistics over the casualties amongst the red shirt wearing crewmen of Starfleet. If only they would adopt good old fashioned camoflage and at least some body armour my Rikki would be here today. Or at least a piece of him would be. Captain Kirk was unavailable for comment - although Doctor McCoy did comment that "I'm a Doctor... not a lawyer dammit!" Did you like that? Hate it? Any "facts" we've missed?
